Fruits and Vegetables

Fresh seasonal (fresh fruit, onions (red, Spanish, shallots), garlic, ginger, lemons/limes:

  • Use the most perishable first (ie: leafy greens) and the sturdier later in the week (ie: root vegetables and squash). Wash and chop some when you get them home to keep in the fridge. They are good for a quick snack.
  • Always keep fresh fruits on hand.
  • Kept in a cool place, garlic, ginger and onions will last for a few weeks.


  • Frozen fruits and vegetables are the best alternate to fresh and can be useful in the winter or when you need something quick. Keep ripened bananas and berries in the freezer for baking.
